Food Intolerance Testing

The Bodyworks Practice offers Food Intolerance Testing to complement our nutrition and internal health focus.

Food intolerances can present themselves in many ways, even days after you have eaten the food you can get symptoms, making it hard to pinpoint what it is.   Food intolerances involve the immune systems antigen IgG.  They can often stem from the gut.  Finding out that you have a food intolerance is just the start of your journey.  Working on your gut and immune system is vital to your health if you have food intolerances.

Signs of a Food Intolerance can include various gut symptoms like bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Other possible symptoms are skin issues such as eczema and joint pain.

A Food Allergy involves the antigen IgE and is not the same as an intolerance.  Allergies present themselves quickly and are usually easy to identify. The UK has one of the highest rates of allergic conditions in the world, affecting over 20% of the population with one or more allergic disorders.  I do not test for allergies.

How is Food Intolerance Testing Carried Out?

Our method of food intolerance testing is quick, easy and accurate.

An initial 30 minute Zoom consultation is carried out to determine which test is best for you.  Then, a test kit will be sent out to you which requires a small finger prick of blood to be taken and sent back to the lab directly (fees apply).   Your blood IgG’s  will then be tested against certain foods.  Your results will then be sent directly back to you.

Discovering a food intolerance is just the beginning of your journey. The next step is to explore the underlying causes behind these reactions. A follow-up consultation once your results are available will provide the guidance needed to support your healing process and address the root causes of your intolerances.

Please remain eating a normal diet before the test so we can see what the culprit foods are.

If you are interested in this service and would like to know what foods are included please do contact us for a full list of foods.
