Flu/Influenza
Also known as Influenza is a virus that can be quite a nasty and unpleasant illness.
Influenza is more severe than the common cold and is caused by a different type of virus. It is transmitted through the air typically by coughs and sneezes.
Flu symptoms can start quite suddenly after infection (1-2 days). The initial symptoms are chills or a chilly sensation, fever may also be common early in the infection.
Symptoms may include:
- Fever and extreme coldness (chills shivering, shaking)
- Cough
- Nasal congestion
- Body aches, especially joints and throat
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Irritated, watering eyes
- Reddened eyes, skin (especially face), mouth, throat and nose
